I'm hosting an animation panel at Wai-Con 2010 in PERTH WA! :)
Posted by RubberNinja Nov. 4, 2009 @ 10:02 AM ESTSo it appears I'll be hosting a panel at Wai-Con (January 23-24) at the Perth convention center. I'm going to be talking to people about how they can easily create their own animation for the web for near to no cost. I'll also be talking about my experiences and such. So I'll be working on a big ass presentation for that. Should be interesting! For those of you that don't know, I also teach animation at a film school during the week, so hosting a panel should be an interesting challenge.
I also plan to premiere a few brand new cartoons there! I'll also have a table at the convention with my friend Alex, who is a very talented artist. I've been teaching him to animate as of late and he's gotten rather good rather fast. We're even going to be working on a few things together next year. :)
Like Supanova in 2008, I'll also be bringing along my laptop and WACOM to animate random things in front of a crowd (I face the screen away from our table so everyone can see).
I'll try to make sure someone records the panel so I can upload it later on! Is there anything in particular you think I should talk about?
Also I should add that I'm almost done on my newest cartoon "Gameoverse 4" which is looking hilarious so far. The aim is to get it out by the end of this month.. But we'll see if I can follow through on that promise considering a few set backs.
Oh yeah and I totally forgot to post this old crappy remake of a even crappier 5 year old cartoon I created to accompany a friends audio manipulation of Half-Life 2...

So my sister got into first round of Miss Universe 2010! Be sure to go and vote for her..

Just look for her under "REBECCA", I realize there are a few of them.. Just look for the blonde one in the headband... Or just look at this image for reference.
You don't have to register to vote. I'd love to see her do great in this, so please help out!
Cheers,
-Ross
P.S.
I was also a male model for a day myself - http://gamertonight.net/forums/viewtop ic.php?t=1889 I HAD FUN.

Due to the unexpected amounts of requests I've got for this, I've decided to do another 2 episodes of "Gameoverse". For those of you who don't know what it is, its a seriously sarcastically written/animated series about a T-Rex and a Dolphin that have to save the universe. It was originally created as the mini series for Playboy's "Playmation Nation". But I decided to do more.. Because well, they're damn fun to make.
If you haven't seen them, check them out here.
Peace,
-Ross

Australia gets covered in a Newgrounds colour scheme?
Posted by RubberNinja Sep. 24, 2009 @ 6:28 AM EDTSadly didn't get to see this on my isolated side of Australia, but looking at the photos all I can say is DAMN! So cool. Parts of the east coast were covered in a blanket of dust, giving the areas a strong orange/red hue.
Check out these two galleries for all the photos.
The attached photo is a nostalgic one, because its the location of a Sydney Newgrounds meet group photo.

Hey guys!
I'm currently looking for someone who would be willing to compose 1 or 2 fantasy tracks for an episode of my new series (this episode is a 2 parter). Think "Lord of the Rings". Was hoping to use a friend of mine, but I've been unable to get in contact with him. I'm hoping to release it near the end of November, I'm already in the early stages of producing the animation. If possible please forward me a link via PM to some of your work (preferably related content) and I'll get back to you ASAP.
Sorry I haven't really been active lately, upon returning from 6 weeks in California I've had a lot to catch up on.
Cheers,
-Ross

When I was in California this July, I was fortunate enough to become friends with Zach, one of the creators of "There Will Be Brawl" on The Escapist. Because of this, myself and Faye (Princess Aurora) were invited to be extras on the 7th installment of the series. I play the jail break "Excite Bike Guy" and Faye plays "Jill Dozer". We briefly come in about 13 minutes or so in. If you havent' checked out the other episodes, do it! It's a great series, very funny! Check out the episode here!
Also I've been streaming Blizzcon all this weekend, since I was unable to stick around in California to attend. Some of the announcements have been fantastic and Starcraft II and Diablo are looking to be amazing games. Surprisingly the new WoW expansion looks rather pleasing. One this that really caught my eye was the improved water effects, which you can briefly notice in the trailer (the water looks very inviting!).
Some of the new animation looks rather neat, check out this transformation from the art panel.
They were talking about the monk class in Diablo III which looks extremely fun. Basically they plotted out the class so it'd play like a "fighting game character" through combo based fighting. Very cool!
I'm really looking forward to Starcraft 2 after seeing what the custom content creator is capable of! They showed a third person Ghost shooter built in the custom editor, which was really impressive.
Did anyone here end up attending? Did anyone stream it?

So my 6 week trip to the Americas is coming to a close. I'd like to thank all my friends and all the fantastic people I've met over this short period of time. This has been a truly eye opening and inspiring trip. I attended Chicago Comic-Con last weekend, which was great fun. I also went to the PixelJunk Shooter launch party last night, where I met some really awesome people from the animation industry. One fellow there that I spoke with was a director on Rugrats, so that was rather awesome.
So sad to be going home, I'll miss everyone a lot. I want to move here badly!
Now for some videos.
Oh joy.

Comic-Con was nice. Very nice. Lots of connections and happy times. HAPPY.
Anyway, here's the links to the mini series I did for Playboy. It's really stupid, but I had a lot of fun making it. Be sure to watch it in order.
They were ultimately inspired by sarcasm. But hey, enjoy.
Also I recently had a small cameo in the new episode of THERE WILL BE BRAWL. That series on the escapist.. I play the role of the guy from excite bike. I believe I'm only in 2 shots of episode 7.. So be sure to keep an eye out for it. My friend Faye (Princess Aurora) also makes an appearance in it to.
I'm heading back to Australia on the 13th.. Sigh..
Anywho..
Peace,

So I've been in California this past month staying at my friend Fayes place (Princess Aurora). Seriously, it has been a blast. I've managed to get around this time to. I managed to visit Hans in San Fran then I got over to Vegas the following weekend which was crazy fun. By chance it was the same weekend in Vegas where the gaming tournament EVO was being held, so I went and checked out that.. Rather intense atmosphere! I really wish I had more time there though, it was a great place to visit.
There's a slight chance now I might be delaying my return to Australia for 2 weeks because something cool has come up.. So we'll see how that goes. I might even be checking out Chicago for a weekend to! O:
I caught up with Ego upon his arrival in California to. Was good to see that goof ball again. Also I met his chillaxed father. What a champ.
Anyways I'm heading to San Diego tonight for Comic-Con. I'm probably going to make a few brief visits to the NG booth, but in general this year I'll be trying to make a lot more panels related to my interests. Since from what I've seen there are quite a few good ones this year!
Can't wait to catch up with some of you again and meet some new faces. Hopefully we'll have an opportunity to chit n chat.
Peace,
-Ross

He's a really passionate animator and he's currently working for Bandai.
I also got to meet Zach who is one of the creators of "There Will Be Brawl" on the Escapist. He's a swell chap.
The TF2 group cosplay thing I joined in on with some friends became a smashing success at AX.. We made the front page of gaming reddit as well as a few other sites. A lot of funny videos spawned from the event.
Yesterday I visited San Fransisco with Princess Aurora (who is the best voice actor GIRL get her to do your stuff okaaay). We got to hang out with Hans for a few hours, which was really cool. Damn its a really nice place to visit.
I'm going to Vegas this weekend for the gaming tournament EVO!.. But I'm also going to get drunk.
Very very drunk.
HUZZAH!
Can't wait for Comic-Con! :D
