Historical Newgrounds Collaboration in the works BIG READ :O...

Posted by RubberNinja Sep. 11, 2007 @ 12:06 PM EDT

A few years ago... Myself and Joe Outterside/Xenon (creator of "OMG", "We Hate It When" - Not 4chan Xenon) were playing around with the concept of possibly putting together another large-scale flash community project. Though we didn't want to resort similar, same old concepts... Sadly it seemed like everything had been done and the idea was scrapped.

These past few years it's felt like there's been somewhat of a decline in flash community projects. And in all honesty this is somewhat upsetting. The reason I love this website so much is mainly to do with the tight bonds artists share and how well they could work together regardless of how far away they live from each other. That's something special, something that I don't think many people can appreciate.

Though these past 2 years, it almost feels like these artistic bonds have been withering away, you might not see it... But through my current perspective, I certainly do.

In early 2007, I was even contacted by a group in Georgia who were conducting research on the topic of "Online Collaboration in Artistic Communities". I was talking them for almost an hour about the subject; they found my information vital to their research.

Links to interview - Interesting listen if you have an hour free:
Part 1 - http://www.sheezyart.com/view/1096654/

Part 2 - http://www.sheezyart.com/view/1096690/

Recently, on a Skype conversation with Xenon and myself this became our topic of discussion. Through this chat, we came up with an interesting concept for a mass Newgrounds collaboration. One that not only sounded like it would be a good laugh for those involved, but would most probably come to be a remarkable edition to the portal and the history of Newgrounds. Plus it would provide artists with tons of nostalgia.

So what is the concept?

Well, its structure is similar to that of previous musical collaborations, but it's based on a very specific topic.

Newgrounds History.

A collaboration completely based on the history of Newgrounds, in musical format.

A completely original song that's being developed by myself and others, which will document the events from 2004 - late 2007 (We thought about going back further, but the songs already long enough in this small time span).

Possible Musician at this point:
http://fox.amoore.sheezyart.com/ - Fox Amoore

Possible vocalist at this point:
http://www.sheezyart.com/view/1331086/
- Insane Kenny

The tune will be similar to Billy Joel's - "We Didn't Start the Fire".

Listen to the song here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pWwUkP OoHM

Basically picture a somewhat similar version of this song, then overlay lyrics like this in your head.

An example from the 2004 section of the song:

"John and Richie
Flash Bros
L F
Pic-on-jo
Luis
Stamper
David Firth

Sick Death Fiend... (This would be said like "Marilyn Munroe" in the original song)

Pico comes guns'a'blazin!
Mind Chamber, quite amazing

Adam Phillips, raised the bar
Probably a bit too far

TSAH
Burnt Face Man
Fallen Angel
Jeff Weise's Plan

(MISSING SOMETHING HERE)

Obesity epidemic becomes clear
Numa Numa, then appears

Fat kid lol lol lol
1 day later, it gets old

Foamy still, not funny
Does it for the money!!

Matrix Has You
Decline
Punk-o-Matic, Music Time

Salad Fingers, rusty comb
Dad's Home
Banana Phone

Marc M, Knock Knock!
Rebecca takes it like a slut

D A kicks Sqeezy
Everyone goes to Sheezy"

As you can see there will be small portions of the song that will relate to offsite drama, such as DeviantArt, SheezyArt, clock crew, star syndicate and so on. These sites are all very much apart of the structure that builds up the flash community behind the scenes, so I felt including some events from them may be beneficial to the story.

Another example of this would be:

" 2005, collabs were great.
Gerkinman masturbates.
We hate it when, great success!
everyone thinks it's a mess."

Gerkinman masturbates, would be referring to the lesser-known fact that a picture of the artist masturbating was distributed throughout the flash community.

" Star Syndicate did quite a job
Wonchop, key logged"

Once again, another hilarious fact that did occur offsite, but in entirety effected the Flash Community.

Also the collaboration might explain some sides of the community that people still wonder about. For example - "Where did the artists Joanime and Smiffy go?"

SECRETS SO SHOCKING, THAT I'LL GET IN TROUBLE FOR TELLING YOU. OH GOLLY!

At this point in time, the collaboration is unnamed and still in very early stages. Though it is proving to be a concept that has taken a lot of interest already.

As for the animators, this would most probably be an invite only selection process. But there will be such an abundance of parts, that a LOT of people would be getting invited.

I want to get a lot of people involved in this, as I seriously believe it will prove to be a exciting project to be involved in.

Please leave your thoughts and comments on the project, I'm interested in what you might have to say or criticize.

Personally, I believe the flash community is a beautiful thing. I remember when I met with Nef, Flash Bros, Dan of Double Helix and Nalo in London, it was possibly one of the most interesting experiences of my life. These were people that I'd never met before and had only communicated with online. I was expecting the experience to be an awkward one, as I'd never met anyone that I'd known online before. To much surprise it was quite the opposite. When someone like that shares SUCH a similar interest, you'll find you become friends very fast.

As I'm going to Comic Con 08, I honestly can't wait to meet further friends and once again see my good chums, The Flash Bros. I feel that it will be an experience to remember.

Now just recently Joe Outterside/Xenon has plans to come stay with me for a few weeks whilst in Australia.. SO wow, I'm really meeting a lot of people.. AND I LIVE IN THE MOST ISOLATED CITY IN THE ENTIRE WORLD... PERTH WESTERN AUSTRALIA. So there's hope for all of you yet..

Although Flash-wise I've been rather idle within Newgrounds, I'm proud to announce that I have plans for multiple flash releases before the year is out. You'll find I've come a long way since 2004.

Fresh - Newgrounds logo introduction that's in the works. I'm very happy with it so far:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBan2OF MWLo

Just keep in mind that future animations under this account will not be related to that of film or video game satire. As I believe I've grown out of this stage of flash development and I want to work on my own original concepts.

As for those of you who keep asking me if there will be a TSAH3. You're asking the wrong guy. Bother Dim. I don't even have an Xbox 360. Nor am I really interested in such a project now.

Though there's a chance my television segment that I was developing for Aussie TV show Good Game, will end up on Newgrounds this year. Though it will be posted on an alternate account, since I don't exactly want to be affiliated with the animation standards nor topics involved in it.

So in all, I believe in Newgrounds and I think this site needs to once again bond into one single community of artistic talent.

Anyways! Thanks for reading this far,

Peace.

EDIT - Recent discussion with Tom Fulp over PM:

At 9/11/07 2:06 PM, TomFulp wrote:
The tragic state of the NG user pages... You make an epic inspirational post and the one response is "um what"... :)
But yeah, that sounds like a great project! I'm gonna link to it in my next front page post, which I'm putting off until tomorrow since I made one this morning. Hopefully a lot of people will get excited for it.

I get really frustrated because we have such a HUGE vision for NG, but I feel like it can be so hard to hold it all together when people get fractured all over the internet... Not to mention the general public wants to just watch videos on YouTube nowdays. I always think of NG as like this collective body of people who are trying to compete with traditional entertainment... It takes a group effort to win a share of the world's eyeballs and doing so benefits everyone here, especially if we can ever reach our ultimate goals for how the site will serve the people who contribute to it.

I was hoping the redesign would trigger a golden age at NG, but that hasn't been an immediate thing... I'm just hoping that it planted the seeds for one to grow!

MY RESPONSE:

Yeah, you're right. Just recently off site on DeviantArt, the artist "SqueakyToad" was trying to put together a collaboration in desperation, but his concept for one was lacking.. To which he cancelled it and then left this note on the project.

"Thing is, I'd really like to organize a collab. Flash collabs used to be really popular things among the more talented animators. Now they've been reduced to something amateurs on the forums throw together in an attempt to get some recognition.
I know a bunch of talented animators I'd love to work with, but nobody's as willing to just have fun and make some silly cartoon. Everyone's too busy.
I guess I missed the collab era of online animation.

Ah well."

I don't know about you, but coming from that "era" I can say it's almost depressing to see someone feel that way. I told him about this project and he was sparked with immediate interest.

And also, yes I hate to say it... But you really need to fix the Author news system.

When the researcher in Georgia came to the topic of "arranging collaborations", all I told him was that it's generally done off site. I'd love if this wasn't so (if you haven't listened to it yet, play it in the background sometime whilst you do some work, it's a nice listen if I do say so myself..).

Imagine if you BUILT a system that supports this kind of group development, be it a complete STORY based artist collaboration or even a simple musical collaboration. With this kind of multi-author support I believe it would strengthen the community.

Just a thought,

-Ross

cool community based project, also am happy to see Joe coming back to the scene. he inexplicably disappears on a regular basis it seems.

Also cool that you are striving to meet other colleagues in the flash scene, i find meeting others that do flash really motivating and empowering.

Sep. 11, 2007 | 6:26 PM RubberNinja responds:

What's even more amazing is that Joe is travelling around the world soon.. He has plans to come live with me for a few weeks when he gets to Australia.

Totally stoked about that.

That sounds like a cool project. I hope it really gets done, though. I remember FDA was doing a big follow-up to ASSWARP that never came into fruition.

I would really like to get involved in this, because I want to be forced out of my shitty tween garbage (it's fast and easy, but it's not the best I have to offer). Sadly, though, even if I had time, I wouldn't be surprised if I never got around to working on it. I've done pretty much nothing flash-wise this entire year, and I have had several scripts just waiting to get animated. Sad stuff.

Anyway, if you need some asshole who makes shitty cartoons to lend a helping hand that you aren't totally depending on, one of mine will be available (the other will be touching myself).

I would have liked to take part, but I would bet you hjave quite a few people in mind before me.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 3:58 AM RubberNinja responds:

Maybe there will be parts left over.. But I really don't want to have much/any basic motion tweened stuff in the collaboration, no offence (diverse symbol animation would be alright though). I did like your Rewrite part though dude. I just haven't seen anything past that quality from you yet.

Rubberninja, there needs to be a verse about Hopkin Green Frog. I realize that lostfrog.org site has NOTHING to do with art or cartoons whatsoever...but I mean look at hopkin. He's so cute. He needs a shong all to his shelf.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 5:42 AM RubberNinja responds:

INTERESTING IDEA ZEKEY.

We could fit in a reference along the lines of..

"If I looking for Legendary Frog.

His name is Joseph frog.

Love, Piconjo.

P.S. I will find my frog"

Somehow I think this would be hard to work into the song though. Still it's a nice thought!

So yeah, good luck!

"But I really don't want to have much/any basic motion tweened stuff in the collaboration, no offence"

None taken, and actually, I've gone over to FBF, I can't stand tweening anymore, I've studied various traditional animation books,(Must have read An Animators survival kit cover to cover six times already) and recently came off a six week course working with pencil and paper.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 11:33 AM RubberNinja responds:

Hell, it will be a while before the ball gets completely rolling on this one and I start sending out the invites.. Maybe by then this would have given you a nudge to wow me and the community. :)

It's another +hour if you try to listen to the interview.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 12:50 PM Hammi says:

So you know where Joanime has gone? And... Smiffy? OH WEE, that means that Joanimes mysterious vanishing is actually related to Smiffy's. If thats the case, maybe they decided to... get married? Become road roamers owning a Harley Davidson? Take care of a family restaurant somewhere in UK? Went over to something bigger than NG for TEH MONEH? >:D

Anyways onto the project: Im not good at flash, since i havent spent any time on learning that much and made only one (TheCrapAdventuresOfHammi). But what i wanted to say is, is there any possibility for you to consider about taking in artworks? Then i mean drawings, sketches, paintings, whatever that has been made on a single frame. Maybe you could have a collection of good art entries dedicated to the ol' skool flash artists that used to roam NG. I know it isnt any much (since flash and music are two of the most dominating subjects), but that would give other artists out there to express themselves. And it may could be entertaining for other people to click through the dedications to see what kind of creativity has been put into. Just a thought.

And lol at Gerkinman. I knew there was something about his name even tho its pronounced in a different manner XD

Sep. 12, 2007 | 6:49 PM RubberNinja responds:

Sorry but at this current time we have no plans for making this a slide show based project. We want it to be a fast paced animated presentation.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 1:18 PM Fierras says:

Hey Ross,

Well, I've always wanted to join collabs where people are as motivated as I am. But those are hard to find and when I do find them I'm usually too late. If you are planning something for the future you can always contact me. I'l be more then happy to join/help. Short parts like on collabs also give not only the opportunity to meet new people but also to try out new things.

regards,

Julio

Sep. 12, 2007 | 6:46 PM RubberNinja responds:

Hey, you're a very talented guy. I'd be glad to have you in here dude.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 2:31 PM Erreip199 says:

Dude that sounds like a great idea, i think one of the reason i really went into animating was the chance to meet such a great community, im still new into it, but if there was a minimal thing i could help at i would be very glad to help out, and u gave me that old doubt of joanime and smiffy back =/, plz go ahead with ur idea nothing would rock more than a collab of the good times NG had, i would recomend ya to look at the NG audio portal artists some are pretty good, id recomend ya DavidOrr he makes pretty sweet music, as for vocalist i got no idea how to help.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 6:45 PM RubberNinja responds:

Joanime and Smiffy won't be coming back.. I was a friend of theirs and I haven't spoken to them in over 2 years. Nor has a large range of their immediate internet friends since then.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 3:14 PM Jammer-Lammy says:

I'll help out. I love animating frame by frame. I may be able to help with the timeline a bit, too. If you want me on the team, I'll start workin' on my part as soon as possible.

Btw, though Sheezy has tons of downtime, I love it to death.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 7:03 PM RubberNinja responds:

Yeah we have a few verses about Sheezy always being down.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 3:19 PM Sekhem says:

Sounds cool, looking forward to it. BETTER HAVE GOOD AUTHORS AND NO FUCKING TWEEN WHORE FAGGOTS.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 6:43 PM RubberNinja responds:

That's the idea.

Some parts might even be JUST ONE LINE.. Which means if you're too lazy to do something fully animated to that.. You're obviously a drop kick.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 4:26 PM MRat says:

Wow. A return to the glory days of Collabs? Sounds almost too good to be true. As a user who's been visiting Newgrounds since 2000, this would be a dream come true. I honestly hope too see alot of brand new talent emerge in this, if that's possible. And of course the grand-daddies would need appearences. But I think it would be absolutely great if some of the more little known authors get a chance to really show their chops off to the community too. Plus it would help them make contacts with other uo-and-commings who could in turn make new good collabs.

Anyway, I'd be interested if there's room for me. If you take a look at my (only one) submission maybe you'll see something you like. And I should have 2, maybe 3 more comming out fairly quickly and soon.

- Ryan

Sep. 12, 2007 | 6:42 PM RubberNinja responds:

Glad you're interested! I'll probably come back to this thread once we've got the music done.. Just to compile a list of authors to invite. It'll probably be done through the NG PM system.

You have given me a lot to think about. All this time I have been trying to join collabs. The last collab I tried to join (Sprite Tv 2) has died, mabye because I bring bad luck to people. I mean, I'm a terrible artist, my animating skills suck and lip sync... I too lazy to do it...
I would love to have my own collab, so I join other collabs to raise my b.a. It's easier then trying to compete with Blockhead or Aladin 3160. My halloween flash looks horrible and my ideas of great ideas are limited by my skills and my lazy personality...
How do you keep motivated?

Sep. 12, 2007 | 6:39 PM RubberNinja responds:

Well, as of late the only thing keeping me motivated is my work for Aussie TV.. I know it's hard to stay motivated to make stuff for Newgrounds. Just possibly try getting motivated off the fact you'll gain recognition from other artists if you contribute positively to the community.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 5:21 PM Xionico says:

Sep. 12, 2007 | 7:00 PM RubberNinja responds:

I'll notify the community once this is so.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 7:13 PM WinchesterLock says:

I like your idea on this collab, although with this being a flash about Newgrounds, you would expect some mention of the Clocks vs Locks in it. Just a thought. : P

Recently, I too have been beginning to think that the age of flash collabs is coming to an end. Every time one gets started, nobody does their part other than just a couple. Unfortunately, I've been bitten by the "just a couple" part a few too many times.

Either way, best of luck.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 7:21 PM RubberNinja responds:

I'm glad you're back around. :) Back when I was just learning the works of Flash, I remember it was you and the Flash Bros that got me inspired again to keep at it. I'm glad I did, it's probably the best thing I've ever done.

The song looks swell so far. I know I'd love to support if theres enough parts for many people to join in. Hopefully this whole issue with the flash community thing will heal by the time my generation leaves NG. I do remember that for a short while it was fun to work with the other artists, but now adays when I want to work with my flash friends the first things that come to their heads are:
1. How much money can we make from sponsorship?
2. Can we complete it in 1-2 months?
3. Can we put forth the least amount of effort because animating is hard.

Luckily, I got a lot of good underdog animators who actually want to put forth an effort for The Flathead Collab. It's nice to see that there are still people who just want to have fun with it.

Sep. 12, 2007 | 8:16 PM RubberNinja responds:

Sep. 12, 2007 | 10:03 PM TheCriminalDuder says:

That's pretty big. If ya'll pull it off it'll be epic and an amazing accomplishment. :)
Still that's a shitload of work. I wouldn't mind seein' a list to all the peeps ya end up invitin'. This would be a great oppertunity for any undiscovered talent too eh?

Sep. 12, 2007 | 10:38 PM Skullkid700 says:

Well, I had noticed that not that many collabs had been made in a while, or at least any GOOD collabs.

I've always wanted to be a part of these, but I'm horrible at flash.
I would love to talk with all of these flash artists, and discuss things, but it seems you have to actually be a good flash artist to be friends with a good flash artist. :(

Well, I wish you all good luck on this project. I can't wait to watch it!

Sep. 13, 2007 | 1:16 AM squeakytoad says:

Did Nef insist that she be blurred in the pic again?

Sep. 13, 2007 | 3:33 AM RubberNinja responds:

Yes, years ago.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 2:03 AM AlmightyHans says:

Oh wow, this collaboration sounds pretty cool. I'd definately love to be a part of this if it's cool with you. Please let me know if there's still room for one more. I always miss these grand multi artist collabs I'd like to be a part of. BLAM FORMERS- One Love- NG 10th Anniversary- etc.

-HVH :D

Sep. 13, 2007 | 2:04 AM AlmightyHans says:

Oh! almost forgot, what makes you qualified for the collab? any rules? i dunno i don't want to miss out on anything.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 3:36 AM RubberNinja responds:

Well as for rules, they're not set..

As for qualifying for the collaboration.. I'll put a notice out about how many parts are left after the obvious immediate invites.. Then I'll ask everyone to present me with a example of their best work. Through this the selection process will begin.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 2:26 AM 2good2b4goten says:

Wow. This is going to be epic.

: By the way, is that condom glow in the dark?

Sep. 13, 2007 | 3:37 AM RubberNinja responds:

I honestly don't remember.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 2:35 AM Magyar says:

Needs a line about the Kitty Krew or maybe a small reference!

Sep. 13, 2007 | 3:33 AM RubberNinja responds:

I really haven't followed anything to do with the Kitty Crew. I know nothing about it.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 8:31 AM Komadori1975 says:

Wow, I would love to be involved in the collab. I'm new to flash and NG, really... so I'm not sure what historic aspect I could contribute. But I can draw! And I was doing really well with my first animation before my old laptop walked off. c.c; So I'd love the chance to do something like this. (Hopefully, I can get a new tablet this weekend, too. The old Wacom ran off with the old laptop. Forget dishes and spoons here, people!

Not to be sidetracked. ---I hope there is something a new artist can bring to the table. Please let me know! :) And whatever the case, good luck!

P.S. Considering the remark about Youtube, has anyone made a plug for NG there? Like, say, the popular flashes that were *ahem* acquired on Youtube (Charlie the Unicorn comes to mind) --- could read something like: You've seen this (flash) and that (flash), but the video quality stinks. And the load takes too long! --Originally shown at NewGrounds.com *plug* Less load time, better quality. Plus, you get to see the cool stuff before everyone else on Youtube! :P :D

Seriously, I have been kicking myself for not knowing about the place!! If it wasn't for the fact that I met Skaijo IRL, I don't know how long it'd be before I found NG.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 10:05 AM RubberNinja responds:

Glad you're interested! I'd love to see some of your stuff if possible? Heck if you can draw in flash decently it's not that difficult to get your head around animating in flash. I mean look at Egoraptor.. The guy can draw really well, but surprisingly his flash knowledge is still rather limited and he's quite a success here. I'd love to get some new fresh talent onto this to give them some exposure.

Give me a buzz on PM if you need help.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 3:16 PM Psi43 says:

first off, you look really ugly in that picture lmfao.

Secondly, I would like to join that collab!!

um please.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 5:29 PM RubberNinja responds:

You don't have a very convincing argument after the first line.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 4:12 PM notorious says:

I'm happy to see that you're responding to all the comments on this, so i'll put in my input.

It sounds like an awesome idea, but it also sounds like it's just bringing more attention to the already most popular artists, and everything people know already anyways. Don't you think it would be cool if you pointed out/mentioned a few of the underdogs, great projects that never got recognised, and other things away from the NG mainstream?? That would be covering the FULL history of it all.

Just a suggestion, this sounds like it will be an excellent collab.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 5:30 PM RubberNinja responds:

Well it really has to be about the mainstream history, or a majority of the audience can't relate to the topic. There will be parts of this song that nobody knows about, mainly off site related incidents.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 5:28 PM AlmightyHans says:

i actually agree with notorious. i mean, of course keep some really classic and memorable NG moments from well known authors, but focusing on the unrecognisd and more underdog artists, but do a little reasearch and stuff would make it even more original and controversial as oppose to reinforming well known facts. Maybe it's ultimately too complex of a job to do the research, and way too difficult deciding which of the hundreds of unrecognisabley good works to include. But it's definately somthing you should consider.

Then again, restating the obviouse and well known is what most of us authors on this site end up doing Being that it's basically what we do when we make movie/game parodies, and being that this site is full of them haha. :P

Sep. 13, 2007 | 5:47 PM RubberNinja responds:

Fair enough. I understand where you're coming from.. I will be going into lesser known facts that are very relevant to the community. It's just going into lesser known artists would seem almost pointless as we want the majority of the Newgrounds community to be able to follow the story, I'm not trying to be an elitist here at all. Just being rational.

Think of it like this, each year section will discuss the obvious (referencing from the Newgrounds History Collection and of course my memory), then include snipits of the less known facts about the community. So you'll see some stuff in here that not even you knew.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 6:08 PM AlmightyHans says:

yeah, i completely see your point, i just tend to look at both sides of things. my bad habbit. it would end up being kinda a lot of work for not the same result. i guess the best art about this kind of historical slide show type thing is seeing somthing or listening to the lyrics and laughing about those great memories shared by basically all newgrounders. not just have the audience watch the movie and go...

"um what?"

Sep. 13, 2007 | 8:53 PM RubberNinja responds:

Haha yeah.

Also I just want to clarify that this will in no way be a slide show :P

It will be completely animated.

Sep. 13, 2007 | 9:17 PM AlmightyHans says:

haha of course! it was just a figure of speech. :P lol

Sep. 14, 2007 | 1:52 AM Yhtomit says:

Hey, is the actual Gerkinman pic gonna be in this? Cos that's the one thing that's putting me off. Also where is the collab going to be made? In the forum or what?

Sep. 14, 2007 | 6:16 AM RubberNinja responds:

I'm pondering over this actually.. I believe I might make an effort to arrange it on the Newgrounds forum.. as I've never used it as a collaboration organisation medium..

But chances are it will be done over email, msn, skype, sheezyart and deviantart as well.

And no, the picture of Gerkinman masturbating won't be placed in the collaboration. In fact, Gerkinman himself has asked to animate that line.

..I don't know! What CAN you do?

Sep. 14, 2007 | 11:18 AM KKyuubi says:

DO NOT CALL IT "We Didn't Start This Website", that's the YTMND version, like maybe "We Didn't Start the Portal". But, I could add some CC related stuff to it.

Sep. 14, 2007 | 12:44 PM RubberNinja responds:

The chorus won't be "We" anything. The tune will be similar, along with the structure.. the chorus won't be.

Sep. 14, 2007 | 1:04 PM Ratio says:

I just sent you a pm, but I might as well say it here:

I send you a sample of my work on sunday when I get access to my files again.

cheers.

Yeah I got it, I just didn't respond because I was busy getting ready for a night at the pub.

can anyone take part? does ambition or skill level matter? and whats your standards of quality?

please let me know so i can make something that fits what you want for your collab.

I'm willing to drop whatever i'm doing to help out.

-PowerRangerYELLOW

Sep. 14, 2007 | 11:19 PM RubberNinja responds:

There will be a animator selection process where myself and others select the best suited artists. There will be quality standards that have to be met.

Thanks for your interest!

This is a really kick ass idea. I'd be honored to participate in such a collab! It would be my first collab in my 7 years on NG, and I would be glad if you were the one to "unvirginize" me.

: Tee hee

Sep. 14, 2007 | 11:20 PM RubberNinja responds:

Great! it will of course be a while before we get the ball rolling on this, but if you hit me up with some links to what you think is your best work, I'll try to keep you in mind.

Sep. 15, 2007 | 7:06 AM S-K says:

I'm liking the sound of this idea! Just don't forget to include a line about how coolboyman created strawberry clock but now thinks most of the followers are "fucking crazy" then I'll be happy XD

"Coolboyman starts a cult, now thinks they're a f*!*king joke" or something I dunno that's just off the top of my head

Hell, I'm in. Sadly XnC wasn't big enough to make it in, but I'm more than willing to help animate, play guitar, anything. Also, this would be PERFECT for the Rock Band Flash Game I'm working on! Just be sure to keep vocals, drums and gee-tar separate

Sep. 16, 2007 | 12:21 AM squidly says:

Please do not include the star syndacyte. If you do so you will give them atention and make them feel like they are a part of newgrounds thus making them spam more and making everybody's day worse.

Sep. 16, 2007 | 10:22 AM RubberNinja responds:

Sorry, but they are a part of Newgrounds.

Sep. 16, 2007 | 1:51 AM fmafan1 says:

...as long as the lock legion is incorporated into this, i will be very happy camper. i think its wonderful that you're organizing something like this. i lso have noticed that recently there has been a lack of a feel of "community" here at newgrouds and hopefully this will pull us all closer together! :D

Sep. 16, 2007 | 11:26 AM RubberNinja responds:

LL will possibly be incorporated into a small reference of the song.

The "Collab era" never produced anything good, stop lying to yourself.....your youth was wasted.

Sep. 17, 2007 | 9:14 AM RubberNinja responds:

Agreed. Though I enjoyed working with others, that's more what this is getting at.

I believe this concept would be a entertaining one. V-tech will even get a verse :O

Sep. 18, 2007 | 12:01 AM Bubbowrap says:

Freaking awesome idea.

I agree, there have been a severe lack in collabs for the last couple of years. Every collab I've joined has, ultimately, failed, so I'd be interested to see how this one turns out. With such big names involved, though, I can't see how it WOULDN'T succeed.

It sounds more like a Flash community thing rather than a Historical Newgrounds Flash. Still, looking forward to it (;

Lyrics win; that's about all I can say.

Sep. 19, 2007 | 3:23 AM PiGPEN says:

"V-tech will even get a verse :O"

Ok, i support this collab :3
.....not gonna help..... but i support it!

Sep. 19, 2007 | 10:40 AM BlueHippo says:

hrmmm, i sent you an IM over AIM... no response, but whatever, i'd like to help out on this collab. i can help with animation... and maybe even vocals. i sang you a dumb song the other day... but dont wanna post it, heh. recently i have learned how to use these studio mics in sound booths, so i can get a pretty crisp sound, however i'm not sure if my vocals are gonna be what you're looking for :P

good luck with this bad boy, the more people involved in a collab, the harder it is to finish >_<

Sep. 19, 2007 | 6:30 PM RubberNinja responds:

I left AIM on overnight.. Keep in mind I'm in Australia so the chances of you catching me awake at that time are rather slim. I'd like to hear that song lol
