.

View the destruction here

- Over 170 lives lost, death toll still rising.

- Many injured

- Hundreds maybe thousands left homeless.

- Unbelievable loss of property.

- Lives completely destroyed.

Authorities believe that a number of the fires were started by people. If they are caught they will be charged with murder.

Bastards.

Thanks to everyone who is giving Victoria support, and contributing in any way.

I'm very sorry to hear that.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 2:16 AM AliceInRed says:

Its quite heartfelt that so far Australians have donated a huge amount to the appeal. My best mate had told me 4 of his mates have lost their houses and im quite shocked at the death toll now. Ill be donating twice tomorrow with a blood and money donation as my other friends here in SA have friends over there.

Also the fact that ive also just learnt that two fires were deliberately lit here today... i have family that live near where they did it and i don't want to go through what Victorians are going through now.

Arson has always = Murder to me

Feb. 10, 2009 | 6:35 AM RubberNinja responds:

34 million raised as of now.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 2:25 AM JakBaronKing says:

OH dude..I heard about that on the News just today.

Take about a hell's fire.

Harsh...glad your okay.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 2:45 AM Kirbopher says:

No shit about fire-fighters starting things like this before? That sickens me, my stepdad would probably be digusted. Either case hope they get what's coming to them. I'll try to donate if more commissions come in.

I tried to donate but I don't have a credit card. Do you know if there are any sites contributing to this that take paypal? That's my only means to do it

Feb. 10, 2009 | 6:38 AM RubberNinja responds:

I'm not really sure. They have many other payment options, I guess pay pal isn't accepted which seems silly.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 6:40 AM RubberNinja responds:

I hope you're going to be ok. Just remember, don't try escape the fire through narrow roads, the heat will kill you. Best bet is to cover your mouth with a wet towel and jump in a pool.

I'm not kidding, a friend of my mothers.. Her dad survived by getting into his pool.

I honestly thought that'd boil you alive.. I guess not D:

Maybe he wasn't surrounded.

Oh man, I don't know what I'd do.

I grew up in Hurstbridge which is a few towns away from Kinglake. I spent the night at my parents house there waiting to help if they needed to evacuate, but the wind changed and it moved back to the north. It's left me completely shellshocked, my mates dad is dead, and loads of people I grew up with are effected by it. It's just plain fucked.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 6:43 AM RubberNinja responds:

I haven't been affected personally, I can't even imagine how hard it must be for everyone there right now. I was rather angry when I heard it was started by arse-hole-nists. Best of luck to your family and friends.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 4:12 AM therealanimator says:

fuckin arsonists they'll get what they deserve. man glad ur ok rubberninja

Feb. 10, 2009 | 6:45 AM RubberNinja responds:

Don't worry, I'm in Perth. This was in Victoria. I'm just trying to raise awareness of the appeal.

Although people are SUPER worried right now about copy cat fire bugs here in Perth. Because our bush land is even drier around this time of year. If something was to start, it could potentially be even worse then what we've seen in Victoria. Scary, I know D:...

Feb. 10, 2009 | 4:18 AM SkyBullet says:

Queenslande here. I can not believe what happend. Im asking my parents if we can donate

Thanks mate.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 6:51 AM Andy-Parker says:

181 dead, and thousands homeless. and the fires are still going. i hope they catch the arsonists, and i hope they get life sentences.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 6:55 AM RubberNinja responds:

Nailed to a plank and burnt was kinda my idea.. But I guess a life sentance of being the most unpopular inmates would be alright.

I'm pretty sure the prison guards would let slide on someone shanking these cowards.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 8:41 AM Killerkb says:

Jesus, thats quite a large death toll. Raging fires over the land of Australia. Doesn't this happen like, a few times a year? You'd think they know a way to stop it...
But hey, donation has been made. Just 10, but at least its something, I guess.

You coming to Amsterdam NG meet by the way? Yes please.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 9:01 AM Brundaty2 says:

Feb. 10, 2009 | 10:59 AM stormwraith says:

so lets see, if the charge for murder is twenty years, and theirs been 170 victims.. then the dude who did this is going away for about 3400 years. that or he's going to get 170 consecutive life terms. either way he's in deep shit. does australia have the death penalty in effect?

Feb. 10, 2009 | 6:11 PM RubberNinja responds:

No, we don't have a death penalty.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 12:33 PM Aaron0710 says:

Christ, I know people that live in Australia. Better catch the tossers that started it.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 1:30 PM W-P-S says:

Feb. 10, 2009 | 2:44 PM SoundWave23 says:

I remeber seeing in Discovery, a supposed "Perfect Disaster" which was a great fire(in Australia), that only the rain could stop. I also heard that there are lots of pyromaniacs in Australia... Hope they catch them.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 3:15 PM RYNOL says:

I would donate if I wasn't a 13 year old bastard with no credit card. I'm feel really sorry for all the people in Victoria. I don't know what I'd do in a fire. Probably just run outside to where it's not on fire, mainly because it's not as dry here in Sweden and the fire doesn't grow very well in snow.

Feb. 10, 2009 | 3:30 PM AndrewAnimation says:

Thank the heavens almighty your alive! I was worried you might be gone.
But don't worry just hope for the best and things will be fine

Feb. 10, 2009 | 6:26 PM RubberNinja responds:

I'm in Perth, not Melbourne (:..

Although our fire alert is extremely high today. We're worried about copy cat fire starters. Not to mention its super hot and super dry.

Feb. 11, 2009 | 1:04 AM HotDiggedyDemon says:

as usual, leave it to WPS to keep things classy

Feb. 11, 2009 | 5:56 AM xXsnowbladeXx says:

Feb. 11, 2009 | 10:24 AM amare says:

Oh my god, glad it wasnt in you'r area... :/ I hope they catch whoever did this shit.. :/ Im gonna make a donation when i home... Take care mate!

Feb. 11, 2009 | 3:58 PM Nuttro says:

Thanks for donating to Australia, it's like hell on earth here. We really need the donations at this point

Feb. 11, 2009 | 4:34 PM Masquatto says:

Here in California we get big wildfires rather frequently (maybe like twice annually), though I don't think they get big enough to kill over a hundred people.

One time I woke up in my house all alone and the sky was orange. I walked outside to find that it was raining ash, the sun was bright red, and no one was in sight. Pretty freaky.

I sympathize with the people in the fire. If I wasn't already in broke/in debt I'd probably help out.

Feb. 11, 2009 | 4:56 PM rtil says:

sorry, americans already gave away all their money to obama.

Feb. 11, 2009 | 4:58 PM SpeedMetalSandwich says:

Cunts should be put under the death sentence for all this.

Feb. 11, 2009 | 6:13 PM LostVoices says:

I am Fucking Appalled!!!!!! my mates are down there and me and their parents cannot contact them! i do not know if they are safe homeless or dead and all you guys can do is joke about how funny it would be if all of Aus burnt down or donating water!?!? Get a fucking life!!!!!!!!

Feb. 11, 2009 | 7:20 PM Pacflip says:

I would donate, but I can't help but wonder how our money would help stop random unknown firestarters from igniting more flames.
You know?

Feb. 11, 2009 | 7:33 PM dilbytime says:

here's hoping it ends soon, yeah?

Feb. 11, 2009 | 8:27 PM Atgod88 says:

America is so fucking stupid, I haven't heard shit about this but I did hear about this house that got knocked over by a tornado and 3 people got injured. Glad we have our priorities straight.

That picture is so breathtaking you want to believe it is a photoshop.

Keep us posted because our news is apparently very busy with this whole 3 injury thing.

Feb. 11, 2009 | 8:48 PM Galazor says:

We had some wildfires here in San Diego last year, there was an excess of relief volunteers at the local stadium and many people banded together to try and help the area get back on its feet. Also some of my relatives live in Sydney and I hope they're doing ok. I hope things work out over there and the asshat-douche fags die in the mess that they were retarded enough to start.

Feb. 12, 2009 | 12:02 AM AngelProdigy says:

I'm going to donate money. It looks pretty god damn scary.

Feb. 12, 2009 | 12:06 AM MysticZen says:

Its funny, i Live in Canberra.. which happens to be between The Queensland Floods and the Bushfires.. and i think this is where our australian spirit comes in handy, cause Those Queenslanders have donated their relief money to the fires in Victoria.. Australian banks each have commited around 1 Million dollars.. and i think Australiais just as dangerous as it is wonderful

Feb. 12, 2009 | 1:02 AM 2good2b4goten says:

Ah, this is all I see on the news. What's the count now? Over 200? It just keeps going up, hard to keep track.

I chucked in $40 during the one day match against New Zealand.

Do the same, guys.

Feb. 12, 2009 | 1:10 AM DND-Productions says:

Wow. I really wish I had some money to donate here, but, alas, I don't. No amount of justice, meted out quite harshly, could ever compensate for what the arsonists have done.

Glad you're okay, here's hoping no-one else dies in the fires.

Feb. 12, 2009 | 1:35 AM Shadow181 says:

Its ironic that up here in sydney its been cloudy and rainy for the past 3 or 4 days.

Boiling hot down there, freezing cold up here.

Feb. 12, 2009 | 2:25 AM JKAmovies says:

Yeah, hearing this all over the news right now. Thank god I live in Adelaide. . . But it's a high chance of it happening here, quite hot atm.

Anyway, it's good you brought this issue up, keep lot's of people informed on whats happening right now :)

i hear the authorities found a suspect in the case. i bet your happy to here that am i right?

Feb. 13, 2009 | 4:06 AM AlexHeaton says:

If you're really in a charitable mood, there are some MUCH better places to send your money. I don't mean to sound mean, but why pay to rebuild a house when you could help find a cure for a disease or educate a community, things that will carry into the future?

Feb. 13, 2009 | 4:31 AM WritersBlock says:

The Bunnings that I work at (and I'd expect the other stores around Australia) had a few people carrying around donation tins there. I think the store's having a barbecue over the weekend to raise money too. I emptied the change from my wallet for the cause. I just feel so lucky to be over here in little ol' Perth, far away from it all. How can you or I, or anyone for that matter, comprehend all that was lost in the fires?

Feb. 13, 2009 | 5:18 AM Hackking says:

1861 homes destroyed. 3000 people displaced. 181 dead. :'(

Feb. 13, 2009 | 6:12 AM DanWandin says:

Hey, I'm from Ballarat in Victoria and today the town was FILLED with the smoke that has been blown over from Melbourne. Lots of people were stressing about there being a fire close by but luckily there was none.

The police have a sketch and a license plate of a person/s that possibly started on of the fires. The guy on the news who filmed his house fire is enraged and most likely wants the arsonists dead (judging from all the "If I find the arsonists" comments he made on the video) and I don't blame him.

(So far) this fire luckily hasn't affected me directly, but in the next couple of weeks anything's possible.

Thanks for making NG aware and hopefully this could bring a little more relief to the victims and their families.

Feb. 13, 2009 | 9:57 AM RubberNinja responds:

I heard they were back burning a lot of stuff today, so there were some controlled fires. Could've been what the smoke was. But then again, those are biiiig fires.

I heard some people are scamming others by making fake red cross donation sites and keeping the profits for themselves. I'm not accusing you of anything or something like that. Just saying that you could warn people about it and tell them to be careful.

Feb. 17, 2009 | 3:17 AM RubberNinja responds:
